Foursquare, the social networking and check-in application, has updated its iOS application to version 3.4, with the major change being the integration of inline photos, reducing the amount of “tap through” both in the main stream and in comments. The app also now offers bigger “tap targets,” improving navigation and making it easier to use the app with just a thumb or one finger when a user’s other hand is occupied.
The addition of inline photos means that something like the concert venue screen can be used for attendees to publish photos and shouts in a single stream without having to switch views. Foursquare also ties in location check-ins to special offers and other advertising, discounts to those who frequently check-in at certain establishments as well as provide an easy way to locate and keep up with friends and their activities.
Foursquare is a free app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running iOS 4.0 or higher, and supports English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Japanese.
