Five Nights At Freddy’s Now Has a Director

Chris Columbus (Gremlins) has signed on to write, direct and produce the screen adaptation of Scott Cawthon’s popular video game Five Nights at Freddy’s for Blumhouse.

First released back in 2014 and having been followed up with numerous sequels, Five Nights at Freddy’s has the player as a nightwatchman at the restaurant Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza on the midnight-6am shift.

Stuck in an office unable to move, you’re given access to security cameras to monitor the place – including the large human-sized animatronic animal characters used at the restaurant in the day who can roam freely at night. You almost never see them move, but they do and if they find you (and they often do), they will kill you.

Columbus, Jason Blum and game creator Scott Cawthon will produce.
