Epocrates has announced availability of a beta version of its software for Android. With this new offering, Epocrates software is now available across all major mobile platforms, including iPhone, BlackBerry, Palm, Windows Mobile and Android.
“Adoption of smartphones by the medical community is continuing to escalate, and Android devices are already generating much interest among our subscriber network.”
The Android OS version features Epocrates’ drug database, including thousands of brand and generic medications, developed and maintained by the company’s in-house team of physicians and pharmacists. Clinicians will also have quick access to Epocrates’ reliable and widely-used tools, including the drug interaction checker, pill identifier and medical calculators.
“I’ve been a long-time Epocrates subscriber exclusively, and depend on it multiple times a day in the clinic and hospital. I use it to confirm dosing or check for potential interactions when prescribing a new medication,” said Dr. Alex Tsai. “I was impressed by how responsive the company was to requests for support of the new Android operating system and how it designed a custom application for it. The myTouch 3G is now complete with my Epocrates software.”
The new Epocrates application for the Android is available for free download at www.epocrates.com/products/android. The company will integrate user feedback from the beta software as it continues enhancing Epocrates Rx (free) and developing its premium offering, which will be available later this year.
