Electric Scooter Sales Booming In The UK, Despite Being Illegal To Ride On UK Roads

The UK is only one of three countries in Europe where e-scooters are illegal to ride on public roads, along with the Republic of Ireland and Holland.

Even with this being the case, per a report by the Evening Standard in the UK, sales are booming.

Research by Bird, another e-scooter start-up which is operating a trial on private land in Stratford, found that e-scooters and e-bikes could account for more than 20 percent of trips taken in Paris by 2030.

Fredrik Hjelm, CEO and founder of Swedish-based Voi has called on the UK not to delay legislation regarding the vehicles.

With Brexit moving forward, many think the issue will now hit parliament. A government consultation on e-scooters is expected to start this month

Below we have included two videos by UK leading eScooter video maker Ben Fox. The first one is about how the laws may be changing soon, the other is about year old, showing his demo Bird ride in Stratford.
