If you’re a fan of the Skylanders series and anything to do with Disney or Pixar, the newly announced Disney Infinity will be something you want to keep an eye on. Due out on PlayStation 3 this June, with a PS Vita release not even hinted at, Disney Infinity will allow you to buy real toys and then bring them to life in the game thanks to the Infinity base.

You’ll then be able to take those characters through their own story-driven experience called ‘Play Sets’, where you will solve puzzles, fight enemies, and visit iconic locations from Disney franchises, while also collecting numerous items and saving them to your ‘Toy Box.’ You can then access that Toy Box and create your very own world using those items and share them with your friends.

To fully understand just what Disney Infinity is all about, check out the debut trailer below. It features quite a bit of gameplay and numerous cameos from your favorite animated characters:   There will be 20 characters for purchase at launch who are based off of Monsters University, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Incredibles, with Sulley, Jack Sparrow, and Mr. Incredible available through the game’s starter kit.

Disney Infinity will also allow for up to four people to play online together, or two people on split-screen and here’s a quick rundown of a few of the other features in the game:

  • Disney Infinity Interactive Pieces – Initially a line of 40 collectible interactive pieces will be introduced that allow players to expand and customize their play experiences.
  • Disney Infinity Interactive Character Figures – Seventeen character figures will allow players to experience a variety of their favourite characters in true to property experiences and in “Toy Box” mode.
  • Disney Infinity Base – When figures are placed on the Infinity base, they unlock the world and play experiences of Disney Infinity.
