In preparation for Election Day Nov. 8, veteran newsman Dan Rather will anchor a political-themed movie marathon on HDNET Movies. Rather will introduce the seven movies in a ballot packed with political thrillers and comedies. The marathon will start with Gene Hackman’s last big screen role in 2004’s “Welcome to Mooseport” on Nov. 6 at 2 p.m., and will close with with Tim Robbins’ performance as a folk singer turned corrupt politician in the 1992 satire “Bob Roberts.”
The other titles screening are: “Primary Colors” (1998), “True Colors” (1991), “The Ides of March” (2011), “The Sentinel” (2006) and “In the Line of Fire” (1993).
Rather, the former CBS News anchor, hosts “The Big Interview” series on HDNet Movies’ sibling channel AXS TV.
