A new trailer for Peter Rabbit has been released by Sony Pictures ahead of its release next March. The trailer previews Peter, as voiced by James Corden, and other audience-favorite Beatrix Potter characters imagined as CGI animations.
In the trailer, we see Peter rally his animal friends to defend their land from the plot’s new owner, Mr McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson), taking their fight all the way to London. Rabbit sympathiser Rose Byrne meanwhile stars in the female lead role of Bea, and Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, and Daisy Ridley voice the roles of Peter’s triplet sisters Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail.
Director Will Gluck, who directed the film from a screenplay he wrote with Rob Lieber, commented:
“In making this film, we’ve always felt as humble custodians entrusted with Peter’s legacy. My parents introduced Peter to me, and I in turn introduced him to my own children – and it’s my great honor to be directing a film that will bring him to cinemas everywhere.”
Sony’s Columbia Pictures announced it had signed development and production rights from Warne, a division of Penguin Random House (PRH), in 2016. Commenting on the project, Francesca Dow, managing director for Penguin Random House Children’s UK, said:
“It has been a pleasure to work with Will Gluck, Zareh Nalbandian, and the team at Columbia Pictures. Generations of readers have loved Peter Rabbit and we are excited that a whole new audience will be able to engage with the delightful world and wonderful characters that Beatrix Potter has created.”
