The rumored August 21 ship date for the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and Torch 9850 smartphones at Sprint has now been confirmed by the carrier. The former will cost $250 on a new two-year contract while the Torch 9850 will cost $150 on the same term. Either gets a 1.2GHz CPU and BlackBerry 7.
The 9930 is a CDMA version of the 9900, and uses the same 2.8-inch, 640×480 display along with a hardware QWERTY keyboard and NFC compatibility for short-range wireless payments and tags. A 1.2GHz processor and a five-megapixel camera with 720p video move it well beyond earlier BlackBerry hardware.
The 9850 is a CDMA version of the 9860 and has the same 3.7-inch touchscreen with a 480×800 resolution, but no QWERTY keyboard. It shares the processor and camera of the 9930.
