Avid Releases A Video About The Media Composer Mac Pro Lock Out

Posted by at 3:59 pm on September 24, 2019

Here’s the latest update to the Avid user community from CEO Jeff Rosica and CPO Dana Ruzicka with some helpful advice for users running Media Composer on Mac Pro.

Late yesterday social media started to buzz about a possible computer virus attack user on Avid’s Media Composer and Mac Pros.  As of now it looks to be an issue with users on older versions of macOS running Media Composer with some third party software.  Both Apple and Avid are looking into this. While it is not yet fully understood,  the issue does not seem to be caused by a virus, but by a software update that may have corrupted some data.

Avid is one of the go to tools for major studios and movie studios.  Some are even starting to wonder, if this could lead to re-runs early in the television season due to lost post production time.
