Apple’s iPhone 4 Antenna Settlement Claims Website Now Open

Apple’s iPhone 4 class action settlement has now gone live on its official page. Americans who do or have owned an iPhone 4 before February 17 of this year, and who turned down a free bumper case from Apple, can make a claim for $15. The site helps speed up the process by letting owners scan a completed claim form and upload it directly along with the claim number.

Those wanting the cash have until August 28 to file a claim. Anyone who feels it necessary to deliberately exclude themselves from the class or object has until June 15.

The class action emerged after 18 different lawsuits were merged. Plaintiffs had argued that Apple had misled about the performance of the iPhone 4 and its ability to hold a call in light of the antenna “death grip” issue. Although the problem was ultimately overstated and affected few users, Apple gave free bumper cases and refunded the purchases for many who had bought the cases on their own.

Apple ultimately solved the problem in the iPhone 4S by incorporating a dynamic antenna switching system that swings from top to bottom to guarantee the strongest possible signal.
