The Wii U games console from Nintendo will be region-locked, according to Neogaf reports. So kids this means that Japanese RPG’s that will never coming to the states officially, will not playable as imports on your US or Canadian Wii U.  Here is another way to look a it;  this means users who buy it earlier in a different country or region than their own will not be able to play games they purchase in their home country. The move is meant to stop game and software imports from other regions as well.

Nintendo locked its original Wii and the portable 3DS as well. US customers will be the first to get the chance to buy the Wii U, as it’s due to arrive on November 18. Europe is next, with a November 30th ship date, while the home country of Japan is, interestingly, last, with a December 8th arrival.

The Basic console will cost $300 and $350 for the Deluxe, with either bundling one GamePad and the console. The Deluxe has 32GB of built-in storage, while the Basic gets just 8GB. The Deluxe will also include an HDMI cable, two power adapters, and a Nintendo Network Plus membership that gives users 10 percent off digital downloads.
