ViewSonic announced its second-generation smart display today, the 24-inch Android 4.2 Jelly Bean-based VSD24.

The device acts either as a stand-alone tablet, powered by NVIDIA Tegra 3 (not 4) chip, or as a standard monitor. It has an integrated 2-megapixel front-facing camera and microphone, as well as speakers to enable video conferencing.  This device is primarily targeting vertical markets such as SMB, education, POS, hospitality and more.

Connectivity-wise, the VSD241 comes with an HDMI-in, two full-sized USB ports, a micro USB, mini USB and an SD card slot. Moreover, it supports both wired (Ethernet) and wireless (Wi-Fi & Bluetooth) connectivity.

The VSD241 is now available in North America for an ESP of $499. A new 22-inch model, the VSD221, will be available in December for an ESP of $399.
