The Huntsman

A lot of great actors were cast as the dwarves for the 2012 fantasy epic Snow White and the Huntsman, including Ian McShane, Eddie Marsan, Toby Jones and the late Bob Hoskins, but they’re mixing things up a bit for the spin-off sequel The Huntsman as The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Rob Brydon, Alexandra Roach and Sheridan Smith will join the returning Nick Frost as dwarves.

The two-time Olivier Award-winning Sheridan Smith won a BAFTA award for her role in the series “Mrs. Biggs” and she starred with Maggie Smith in the Dustin Hoffman-directed Quartet.

Brydon  is probably best known on these shores for his multiple films with Steve Coogan and director Michael Winterbottom, including The Trip and its sequel The Trip to Italy, and he already has fairy tale experience, having had a small role in Disney’s Cinderella. He also will appear in an upcoming HBO series called “The Brink.”

Also born in Wales, Roach’s previous period work has included The Iron Lady opposite Meryl Streep and Anna Karenina and previously appeared with Frost in the romantic comedy Cuban Fury.

Also returning from the original movie are two of the three leads, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron as the title role and Ravenna, with the focus being on their characters before the arrival of Snow White, and they’re joined by Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain.

The Huntsman will be directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan from a script by Frank Darabont, Craig Mazin and Evan Spilliotopoulos preparing for release on April 22, 2016.
