According to The Hollywood Reporter, Snow White and the Huntsman screenwriter Evan Daugherty has been brought on to write the screenplay for the upcoming G.I. Joe 3. No word on what the story for the film will be, or what characters might get introduced, but returning director Jon M. Chu has said that with the third film he’s eager to explore every facet of the franchise’s potential.
Chu also previously confirmed that the third G.I. Joe film will likely be shot in 3D, in favor of doing a post-conversion that delayed the release of “Retaliation” by almost eight months.
The third film currently doesn’t have a release date nor a confirmed cast, but it is expected that D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson will return.
The previous G.I. Joe films have been huge successes at the box office, grossing over $300 million each.
