MoviePass Promises subscription Service for Movie Theaters

MoviePass Inc has announced an exclusive, Netflix-like, subscription service aimed cinema going film enthusiasts. It offers users the ability to attend unlimited movies at a fixed monthly rate via mobile phone. The enterprise has the backing of by major investors including AOL Ventures, True Ventures and Lambert Media. A beta rollout is planned to launch in San Francisco June 29.

MoviePass will launch its exclusive mobile service via an HTML 5 web application, with native apps for iOS and Android devices coming soon. The Unlimited Pass $50 monthly subscription will allow users to go to as many movies as they want a month, choosing from any movie playing at participating theaters. A cut down $30 monthly subscription is also offered, but limits users to four movies per month. IMAX or 3D films incur a $3 surcharge.

Only a limited number of subscriptions will be available at launch, with charter subscribers able to offer their friends entry into the club. 
Following its initial launch, MoviePass will roll out to select markets throughout the summer with a national launch in the fall.
