Mint.com Launches New Bill Reminder Feature

Mint has addressed one of it’s largest customer requests.  Today Mint launched a Bill Reminders feature that helps people stay on top of their upcoming bills by tracking regular due dates in one place.  This feature joins the reminders for credit cards and loans.   The new feature  provides people with a simple timeline of upcoming bills and lets them receive customized due date reminders on Mint.com, the mint mobile apps for iPhone and Android or via email and text message.

“Juggling due dates and amounts owed, and jumping from websites to paper statements, is tedious and confusing. Busy people have better ways to spend their time and money, such as saving toward a goal,” said Aaron Forth, vice president and general manager of the Intuit Inc.’s Personal Finance Group.

How it Works
When logging into Mint.com, users will see regular bills automatically identified and added to the new Bill Reminders feature, based on prior bank statements and monthly spending patterns. From there, users can:

  • See all bills in one place: Eliminate the need to log into multiple sites to track upcoming due dates.
  • Get bill due date alerts: Receive email or text message reminders to avoid missed payments, late or overdraft fees.
  • View a timeline of bills: See upcoming and past bills on the homepage.
  • Add any type of bill: Add any bills that are not automatically included, assign the bill a name, input an amount and choose a due date.

We spoke to Mee-Sun Yuk , a product manager at Mint.com, before the launch of the new feature who told us the new feature was tested for several weeks by a group of users from including some their most active members of their support forums.  We pointed out one of things we would like to see happen in which the feature would have red bar replace a green bar when you have missed a payment. This is something which will be addressed in the future update.  We here at at ToT think that would be a great addition to an already great product.  Over the last 18 months Mint has really stepped up its game in features and UI and we look forward to seeing what they will do next.

Future of Mobile Clients

Some of you have asked about BlackBerry and Windows 7 clients app for Mint and for now the next app on the horizon is one for the iPad.
