Rose McIver has been tapped to star in Lifetime’s “Petals on the Wind,” Variety has confirmed. She will play Cathy Dollganger in the “Flowers in the Attic” sequel, a role occupied by Kiernan Shipka in the networks first “Flowers” pic. McIver’s TV credits include “Once Upon A Time” and an arc on “Masters of Sex.”
Unlike V.C. Andrews book “Petals on the Wind,” Lifetime’s adaptation will take place 10 years after the events in “Flowers in the Attic,” hence the need to recast Cathy Dollganger following Shipka’s performance in the January telepic. Heather Graham and Ellen Burstyn will reprise their roles, while Mason Dye will not return for the sequel.
Lifetime announced its plans for a “Flowers in the Attic” sequel at the net’s TCA session earlier this year, with Kayla Alpert set to adapt “Petals on the Wind” as a TV movie as she did “Flowers in the Attic” for Lifetime
