LG’s L-Series Has Past 10 Million Units Sold

LG’s Optimus L-Series smartphones have surpassed the 10 million unit sales mark, the South Korean manufacturer announced today. The sales figure marks what LG calls a “modest” milestone for it and its mobile devices business. The company attributes the overall success of the line to the distinct design features of the Optimus L-Series, which it says eschews the “me too” styling of some of its competitors.

The L-Series debuted at this year’s Mobile World Congress and includes the Optimus L3, Optimus L5, Optimus L7, and the recently revealed Optimus L9. These handsets are available in over 50 markets worldwide, and carry displays ranging from 3.2-inches to 4.7-inches.

LG Mobile President and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park credits the Optimus L-Series’ range of options as the driving factor behind its success. He pans the tendency for some of LG’s competitors to put “all their eggs into a one-size-fits-all phone,” instead praising LG’s display options and enhanced UX features
