Lenovo has added the ThinkPad T431 to its lineup touting 26 major revisions over the model that it replaces. In developing the T431, Lenovo researchers observed ThinkPad and other users over a nine-month period in order to shape the design of the new model. The aim, according to Lenovo, was to create a notebook that would have maxium appeal for business users in a ‘bring your own notebook’ office place.

The end is result is that the T431 centers on a 14-inch display with a resolution of 1600×900 pixels with a brightness of 250 nits. It weighs in at 3.6-pounds and is 0.82-inches thick, while it also comes pre-loaded with Windows 7, not the newer Windows 8. Despite this, Lenovo has designed the notebook to work better with Windows 8 if users opt for it, redesigning the trackpoint and touchpad for the new OS. The keyboard was also optimised for use with Windows 8.

In addition to a wide range of storage options, users will be able to fit their T431 with a choice of Intel Core i5 and Core i7 options. Battery life is rated at up to 9 hours depending on use. A wide range of connectivity options is included, such as USB 3.0, MiniDisplay Port and a Smart Card reader that allows users to make NFC payments. The Lenovo T431 will start shipping in April from $949.
