Intel Starts Shipping Some Sandy Bridge Chipsets Again

Posted by at 4:11 pm on February 7, 2011

Monday night, Intel said it was resuming shipping some of the chipsets for its Sandy Bridge processors following the major flaw discovery. The company determined that some systems wouldn’t be affected at all by the 6 series chipset bug, which degrades the speed of some SATA ports. The move would see shipments move up to mid-February where they previously hadn’t been expected until the end of the month at the earliest.

It didn’t break down which computer designers would resume access sooner or whether the mix primarily involved desktops or notebooks. Although initially suggested as a desktop issue, the flaw also affects certain notebooks and is known to be delaying some desktops and notebooks from Dell and HP.
