One of the more interesting Christmas box office victories utterly eclipsed by the fanfare of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was Paramount Pictures‘ comedy Daddy’s Home, which very quietly became one of Will Ferrell’s biggest global hit ever with over $240 million worldwide and $150 million domestic. Now, according to Deadline, Ferrell and his two-time co-star Mark Wahlberg (The Other Guys) are reuniting for a Daddy’s Home sequel, with Sean Anders and John Morris also returning to pen the script with Anders directing.

Daddy’s Home followed a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) who strives to become the best stepdad to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling and freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives, forcing him to compete for the affection of the kids.

Directed by Sean Anders, the film also starred Linda Cardellini, Thomas Haden Church and Hannibal Buress.

Ferrell will next be seen with Amy Poehler in the 2017 comedy The House, while Wahlberg has the real-life drama Deepwater Horizon this September.
