Verizon Galaxy S II Function to Have LTE

Verizon may have inadvertently spoiled Samsung’s plans for its Galaxy S II US launch with clues for its own edition. The carrier’s support claimed on Twitter that its edition “will have 4G.” Little else was given away, though the Verizon S II is believed to be called the Function.

Using LTE could make the Verizon edition the most desirable of the three known to be coming so far. Sprint will have a WiMAX-equipped version, but it won’t compete directly in 4G speed. The Function is likely to become the fastest LTE phone on Verizon’s network with all current LTE phones usually being upgrades of earlier single-core phones.

All of the phones are due to get some kind of customization, including the keyboard-using AT&T Attain. They will at least be announced in August but might not be shipping right away.
