In June, Microsoft launched its cloud-based Office 365 service in 40 markets worldwide. For $6 per month, Microsoft touted that with the service, apps and documents could always be up to date. Yesterday, the cloud experienced an outage until shortly after 7PM Eastern, handing Microsoft a major embarrassment for its fledgling cloud service.
Microsoft began tweeting about the problem around 4PM Eastern. “We apologize for the inconvenience that the #office365 outage has caused today,” the company advised, without giving an estimated fix at the time.
The business-oriented virtual service allows users to collaborate and share ideas in real-time. It gives users access to Word​, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook and other Office apps, and connects them to Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint and Lync.
