MediaTek Announces Helio G70 Chips – Aimed For Use In Mid-Range Gaming Smartphones

MediaTek has launched the Helio G70 series of SoCs aim for use in gaming focused mid-range devices.

The goal of the new chip is bring  more affordable gaming smartphones.  To achieve this goal, the G70 series appears to be a slightly cutdown Soc when compared to the Helio G90 and G90T Soc, which came out late last year.

The Helio G70 sports support for cameras up to 48-megapixels and FHD+ displays. Sadly, but understandingly, there is no support for 5G on these new chips — that is offered by MediaTek’s dedicated 5G chipsets. The main CPU cores are Cortex-A75 rather instead of the Cortex-A76 designs found in the Helio G90 chips. The clock speed only hits only 2.0GHz with the smaller Cortex-A55 cores slightly underclocked at 1.7GHz .  The chips also support dual 4G VoLTE for exceptional voice and video call quality.

The G70 does pack MediaTek’s HyperEngine tech to enhance gaming performance. You should see improved performance as resource management on the Helio G70 and G70T is able to dynamically manage CPU, GPU, and memory simultaneously.
