Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta, Get Out) has been set to star in the film adaptation of Ron Wimberly’s graphic novel Prince of Cats for Legendary Pictures.
The story is essentially Romeo and Juliet told from Tybalt’s perspective as he and his fellow Capulets navigate Brooklyn’s hip-hop scene in the 1980s as he and the Montague’s engage in their rivalry with music and swordfights.
Legendary aims to turn the film into a star vehicle for Stanfield with Selwyn Sefyu Hinds penning the script. Janet and Kate Zucker will produce.
