Art Garfunkel has amassed a pretty impressive body of work. And that catalog will get a thorough revisiting with “The Singer,” a two-CD retrospective spanning his work as one half of Simon & Garfunkel as well as his solo material.
The 34-song collection, which will also include two new songs, will be available August 28 through Columbia/Legacy.
The tracks, which were curated by Garfunkel, were culled from a decades-spanning catalog, ranging from Simon & Garfunkel’s 1964 debut album “Wednesday Morning, 3 AM” (which is represented by “The Sound Of Silence”) up to his 2007 standards album “Some Enchanted Evening.”
The unreleased tracks include “Lena,” which features studio guitarist Dean Parks, and “Long Way Home,” with singer/songwriter Maia Sharp.
“The Singer”‘s packaging will include a booklet of track-by-track annotations by Garfunkel, presented in handwritten form.
