Hamm and Radcliffe to Return for More of Young Doctor’s Notebook

Hamm and Radcliffe BathIn the series “A Young Doctor’s Notebook,” about the experiences of a country doctor in revolutionary Russia. Jon Hamm played the older version of Daniel Radcliffe’s young doctor, looking back on the experiences of his callow self.

The show was a hit on its original U.K. channel, Sky Arts, and has been picked up in the U.S, by Ovation, which will air it in a couple of months (though they’ve yet to give a precise date). It has now also been picked up for a second series, which will see the snow-bound doctor’s tale (adapted from stories by Mikhail Bulgakov, of “The Master and Margarita” fame) continue with the arrival of a beautiful young aristocrat played by Margaret Clunie.

The Russian Revolution was not a fun time to be a Russian aristocrat (or Russian at all, really, but never mind), so we imagine drama and persecution will ensue, along with the original series’ mild comedic overtones, which mostly consist of Hamm and Radcliffe trying to out-wry each other while standing over women in labor and peasants with picturesque ailments. No word yet on whether there will be any more bath sharing.
