SugarSync, the cloud storage people, has announced a new mobile device management capability for iOS devices, along with an updated Blackberry app and a new permanent referral program.

The mobile device control panel, which is live on the website starting today, allows iPhone and iPad users to transfer files or entire folders of compatible data to their mobile device wirelessly, or simply view synced data on any internet-connected computer. The new mobile device management for iOS devices is available for free to all users.

The company hopes to improve usability of the service, and plans on expanding the mobile device management to other platforms like Android in the near future.

One Click Add

The company has also improved right-click options for computer users, offering a one-click “Add to SugarSync” option along with a new “Share Folder” feature that both adds a chosen folder to the SugarSync cloud service and shares it in a single step.

Blackberry

Blackberry users now have an improved app that remodels the interface to be more in line with the iOS and Android apps, improving navigation and adding tabs to get to critical functions.

Sharing has been improved by integrating the Blackberry’s native address book and e-mail, along with a “Copy Link to Clipboard” feature to make social-network sharing of files easier. The updated Blackberry app is also free and is available either directly from the SugarSync website or BlackBerry App World.

Referral Program

The company has also opted to make the bonus referral program permanent rather than a limited-time offer. This enables users to earn a completely unlimited amount of free storage by referring friends and colleagues. Each referred person who signs up for at least a free 5GB account will earn both themselves and the referrer an additional 500MB of storage. If the referred person signs up for a paid account, both the new user and the referrer get an additional 10GB added to their accounts.

Accounts start with a free 5GB account, with paid plans beginning at 30GB for $5 per month or $50 per year.
