PSN Password Exploit Fixed, Hack Rumors Are False

Sony quickly responded to talk of the PSN password reset exploit with a response of its own. Senior corporate communications head Patrick Seybold acknowledged that there had been a “URL exploit” in the password reset tool but that it already been fixed. He rebuffed claims by some that it was a hack and emphasized that it was on the web.

People who hadn’t reset their PSN passwords could still do so directly from the PS3 that was attached to the account. Customers who had either changed PS3s or weren’t using one at all, such as PSP owners, had no choice but to wait until the website was back up.

No timeframe was given out for when the password reset would be an option.
