Google Drive Will Soon Let Users Set Expiration Dates for Files

Google-Drive-Docs-Sheets-SlidesGoogle has improved the security of its Google Drive suite of productivity apps by allowing document owners to set expiration dates on file access.

The idea is to allow businesses or people restrict how long others can access files in Docs, Sheets, and Slides. By setting predetermined access end dates, people can better control what’s available to third parties, even if those parties are friends, family, or business partners.

The feature is limited to files that have been granted view/comment access; it cannot be applied to files given edit access. The expiration date feature is being rolled out to all users over the next two to three months.

Google says the roll out should be completed by the end of June.
