the-art-of-moreSony’s Crackle has renewed Dennis Quaid’s “The Art of More” for Season 2, ordering 10 episodes, which will begin shooting in early 2016. The first full-length scripted drama series for the free streaming service, Crackle says “The Art of More” has been viewed two million times since its mid-November debut, pointing out that more than half the audience were new viewers to the network.

“As our most ambitious series to date, ‘The Art of More’ is a brand-defining drama that speaks to Crackle’s mission to be a home to must-see original content,” said Crackle general manager Eric Berger. “The successful performance of the series in such a short amount of time is a testament to the incredible team behind it who will take our audience deeper into a world where there is still much more story to tell.”

The auction-themed “Art of More” stars Quaid, who doubles as an exec producer, plus Kate Bosworth, Christian Cooke and Cary Elwes.

“I loved playing Samuel Brukner and couldn’t be happier to be joining the cast and crew of ‘The Art of More’ for another season,” said Quaid of the renewal. “I’m so thankful to all the viewers who have come over to Crackle and embraced the show — next season is going to be even more ruthless.”

Cooke commented, “This story is only just beginning and I can’t wait to dive back into this world and work again with such a wonderful company of people.”

Earlier this year at the show’s Los Angeles premiere, Elwes told Variety, “There’s nothing out there like this. No one’s tapped into this world before. And when one thinks of auction houses, you don’t necessarily think of drama. But when millions of dollars are exchanging hands in a nanosecond, much like Wall Street, you can imagine people get involved with nefarious things.”

At the time of its launch, Variety‘s Brian Lowry noted the prominent cast was a plus, but said the roles were not “particularly inspired” and the show found itself tangled in cliches. “Everyone wants to get into the premium-drama game, it seems,” he wrote in his review. “But after watching six episodes, ‘More’ is less.”

“The Art of More” hails from creator Chuck Rose who writes and exec produces with Gardner Stern. Laurence Mark, Gary Fleder and Tamara Chestna are also exec producers.
