CBS Reveals Fall Schedule and Series Premiere Dates

CBS is the first network to firm up fall premiere dates. On Thursday the network announced launches for new and returning shows, and Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon is getting a prime showcase.

As previously announced, CBS will kick off the season with a special outing of the Young Sheldon pilot after a Monday bow of The Big Bang Theory. The Sept. 25 launch, a day after 60 Minutes premieres its 50th season, will also include new season premieres for Kevin Can Wait and Scorpion — as well as the series debut of Me, Myself and I.

The premiere dates are in line with the schedule CBS presented during May’s upfront. At least one network, NBC, has already backpedaled on some of its fall plans, including its proposed shift for This Is Us.

CBS will air the Emmys, hosted by Stephen Colbert, on Sunday, Sept. 17. Often, networks use the awards show as a platform for the new season — but CBS’ lineup won’t roll out in earnest for another week. Nearly all its premieres take place between Sept. 24 and Oct. 8, with the exception of Superior Donuts, Mom, Life in Pieces and S.W.A.T. Each of those will enter the schedule once the network’s run of Thursday Night Football is over.
