Acer has revealed two new Iconia tablets as part of its Thursday devices launch, as well as bringing one smartphone to the United States for the first time. The Iconia Tab 10 is a tablet aimed at education, the Iconia One 8 offers advanced touch capabilities, and the Liquid M220 smartphone running Windows Phone 8.1 will be arriving in Microsoft Stores in the coming months.

The Iconia Tab 10 has a 10.1-inch 1920×1200 display protected with Gorilla Glass 4, backed by a quad-core Intel Atom processor with 2GB of RAM and expandable storage including 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB options. Wi-Fi, USB 20, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity are also included, along with a battery said to last for up to 7.5 hours.

Part of the Google for Educational program, the tablet can be quickly set up by IT administrators within minutes, with the device also having the Iconia productivity suite preinstalled on Android 5.0. Continuing the educational theme, it has various child-friendly physical design considerations, such as an anti-fingerprint coating, a tougher back cover, reinforced frame, and an anti-slip textured finish.

The Iconia One 8 has an eight-inch 1280×800 Zero Air Gap IPS display, with the Android 5.0 device using a quad-core Intel Atom Processor, with 16GB or 32GB of storage. Offering 8.5 hours of battery life, it also has a rear 5-megapixel camera with support for 88-degree wide-angle shots, and a front-facing 0.3-megapixel webcam.

Using Acer’s Precision Plus technology, the screen can be used for writing or sketches with Acer’s own Accurate Stylus or a pencil with a 2mm tip. Acer’s suite of EZ-branded apps, including EZ Note, EZ Snap, and EZ Gadget, are accompanied by a System Doctor app for simple device maintenance, and a reading mode that reduces the amount of blue light emitted from the display, making it more comfortable to read for long periods.
