YouTube has added a new feature to its video viewing experience. There is now an on-screen link that will initiate a Google+ Hangout session. Members of the selected group can view and chat about the video at the same time.
The link appears at the lower corner of the viewer’s screen when sharing is selected. Clicking on the link brings up a browser asking the viewer to choose which Google+ Circle they’d like to to share the video with using Hangout. The session starts automatically.
Increased integration with YouTube is just one way by which Google is trying to compete against Facebook with Google+, the social networking service that it launched in June. Last week, Google+ added game support.
