Microsoft on Wednesday posted a 2.0 overhaul to the free Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac. The update arrives just in time to support the first wave of Mango phones. Among the additions for the new mobile OS are the ability to visit the Windows Phone Marketplace for these devices and to transfer custom ringtones.

Outside of the new OS, it now gives Aperture owners the option of syncing photos to and from WP7 hardware, albeit not in RAW format. The Browse Device option now works for drag-and-drop file loading. Video and podcast support is better, with an improved transcoding process on movies and new configuration options for both.

Upgrades have also come to iTunes importing, backing up and restoring, and video metadata recognition. As with Mango itself, Connector is now localized to 13 countries.

Along with use of at least Snow Leopard, the app needs any Windows Phone device or else a Zune HD.
