Google and  Microsoft have not been able to see eye-to-eye on a way to allow a YouTube client to be made available for the platform.

The most recent attempt made by Microsoft to build such an app resulted in it being blocked by Google. As a result, the two aforementioned Windows Phone apps have become quite popular.

MyTube has been updated to version 2.1.2.0. The new features include an ability to respond to comments (you might have to sign back into your account the first time you want to leave a comment). The update also allows you to view more than five replies in a comment thread. It also “fixes playlist auto-play issue with background audio.” My Tube costs 99 cents for Windows Phone users.

MetroTube is now updated to version 4.6.3.0 and fixes a log-in bug, and some minor bugs that were affecting the user experience of the app. MetroTube is also 99 cents from the Windows Phone Store.

Both of these third party apps were updated  so that they could support the new version 3 of the YouTube API.
