Windows Home Server “Vail” About Leave Beta

Microsoft is reportedly nearing the end of beta development for its latest Windows Home Server software, which has been referred to by the code-name “Vail.” The company’s Windows Home Server team briefly published a Twitter post expressing excitement over the final release candidate, which will be “on connect soon.”

The WHS group quickly deleted the post, though sources have told WinRumors the RC build is still set to be released on Thursday for participants in the Connect program. The company recently released instructions guiding users to delay the expiration of the Windows Home Server beta from its original date, January 10, to sometime in the middle of March.

Microsoft late last year announced that it would pull the Drive Extender feature from the software, effectively removing support for multiple hard drives combined as a single volume. After the company faced criticism over the move, CEO Steve Ballmer promised to look into the matter but never gave a public statement on if it would return.
