The YouTube app for the Wii U has been updated, bringing it a brand new look and a bit of a performance overhaul. The new update brings featured recommendations front and center, so you can see videos that YouTube thinks might be interesting for you to watch. The control scheme is limited to the GamePad, so those who like using the Pro Controller or Wii Remote to control your Wii U, you’ll likely be a bit disappointed.
Overall, the update appears to have improved performance as well, because videos seem to load much faster once they’ve been selected. There’s also less hanging while the video is buffering. If your Wii U hasn’t already downloaded the update for the app, you’ll be prompted to download it when you start the app.
