Vudu today announced its streaming movie service would reach Boxee devices. Both the forthcoming Boxee Box and the clients for Linux, Macs and Windows PCs will have access to the full catalog. Only the Boxee Box will have full support for 720P and HDX-based 1080P. As of now the desktop apps will be limited to standard definition.
The feature should be available across all of the available platforms in November. Computer client downloads are free, while the Boxee Box hardware ships on November 10 for a $199 street price. Movies carry their typical rental rates, although Vudu is running a $2 rental promo right now.
