Verizon Will Offers 4GB Data for 30 Dollars for Droid RAZR Owners

Verizon confirmed a data plan promo on Monday to help kick off the launch of the Droid RAZR, which it now says will get its leaked November 11, 11:11AM release. Anyone with an LTE-equipped smartphone who gets a $30 data plan from November 8 will have the bandwidth cap doubled from its normal 2GB to 4GB. Existing subscribers have to ask Verizon to change the plan.

The discounts don’t factor in 3G phones like the iPhone 4S, where more bandwidth isn’t as essential. Verizon didn’t say when the promo will end, although it may be to the end of the year.

In explaining the unusual launch timing and the plan, Verizon explained it not just as mimicking the side profile of the 0.28-inch thick RAZR but of the anniversary for the original Motorola Droid. The first-run phone arrived in November 2009 and is thought by many to have almost single-handedly made Android relevant.
