Shooter” has been renewed for a second season at USA Network. Starring Ryan Phillippe, the drama is based on Mark Wahlberg’s 2007 film of the same name. Wahlberg serves as an executive producer on the USA series.

Phillippe stars as Bob Lee Swagger, a highly decorated veteran who is coaxed back into action to prevent a plot to kill the president. When Swagger’s former commanding officer, Isaac Johnson, played by Omar Epps, solicits his expertise for a clandestine operation, Swagger discovers that he has been framed and must do everything in his power to protect his family and clear his name. “Shooter” also stars Shantel VanSanten (“One Tree Hill”), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (“The Accountant”), and Eddie McClintock (“Bones”).

“John Hlavin and the team behind ‘Shooter’ have delivered a compelling action thriller that consistently engages a strong and loyal audience,” said Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “We look forward to partnering once again with Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions as we follow Bob Lee into his next chapter.”

The first season of “Shooter” will wrap up on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 10 p.m. No premiere date has been set for Season 2.
