TweetDeck Updates to V 1.3 – Adds Media Previews, List-Making

Twitter showed renewed interest in its desktop TweetDeck apps after their first release with a version 1.3 update for Windows, Mac, Google Chrome, and the web. The new version is meant partly to catch up to the mainstream web page and now has optional in-line photo and video previews. Pros and fans of lists can now create, delete, or modify lists, including changing someone’s relationship to a list through their profile.

While the mentions column can stay, users now have the option of an Interactions column like they see elsewhere on Twitter to check favorites, follows, and list additions. Users now have much more control over retweets and can choose simply the traditional “RT” with editing options instead of either a direct retweet or an unalterable quote.

The company gave a teaser of “even more” TweetDeck features in the near future, possibly an allusion to its mobile app plans. TweetDeck has mostly stayed silent since it was bought by Twitter, with most of the attention on the wider public. A 1.3 update and hiring for mobile shows a renewed determination to accommodate the pro users that it had originally sought to court with the estimated $40 million deal.
