Toshiba has begun shipping one of the first notebooks equipped with AMD’s Llano-based Fusion quad-core processors. The Toshiba Satellite L750D-ST4N01 incorporates AMD’s mid-range A6-3400M chip with an integrated AMD Radeon HD 6520G graphics core on-board. The new hybrid chips, which AMD refers to as APU’s (Accelerated Processing Units) incorporate DirectX 11-capable graphics processing on the same die as the CPU.

The AMD-powered Toshiba Satellite L750 is otherwise a typical lower-end notebook in terms of its otherwise unremarkable specifications. It centers on a 15.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. RAM comes in at 4GB, which its 5400RPM hard-drive comes with 640GB of capacity.

At $699 it offers good performance per dollar, especially when compared with a similarly priced Intel-based notebook from the same range. For the same dollars, and Intel equipped model will only offer a dual-core processor for the price and Intel’s integrated HD graphics.
