Tidy Up Hits Version 3 – Sports New Ui

Hyperbolic Software has released version 3.0 of it’s all-purpose file duplicate finder, Tidy Up. The program’s latest incarnation brings an all-new user interface as well as additional ways to seek out duplicates and differentiate true duplicates from similar files, such as similar-looking images or similar-length audio tracks that may seem to have the same “date created” or “date modified” or other file attributes.

Users can now search for duplicate folders by content, limit searches to just preferred playlists and albums and assign priorities to certain criteria. Results can be seen as a grid or list, and users can compare only the representation data of images, along with numerous other smaller changes.

The program lets users search for duplicate files and packages by almost any criteria, including methods such as tagging in audio files and EXIF metadata in pictures. Deletions can be synchronized with Mail, iPhoto and iTunes. It can also be used to find things such as empty folders.

The program comes with more than 90 pre-defined searches in Basic Mode, and users can create more advances “smart baskets” based on their own criteria. The program automatically protects against deleting all copies of a file and allows for undos if the trash has not been emptied.

The new version now requires OS X 10.6.6 or higher and is fully Lion-compatible. Older versions for older systems are still available as well. The program costs $30, or can be included in a bundle of Hyperbolic’s other utilities including file information examiner MacGizmo and Smart Trash for a total of $50.
