Known for writing action classics like The Last Boyscout, writer and filmmaker Shane Black has also been making a name for himself in recent years with his directorial efforts from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang to The Nice Guys to Iron Man 3.
One of his notable early script writing works though was 1987’s The Monster Squad, a film which followed a group of outcast teens who form a squad that fights monsters. Black and frequent collaborator Fred Dekker co-wrote the film which Dekker directed. It was a bomb both critically and commercially but has since earned a devout cult following.
Now comes the trailer for Wolfman’s Got Nards, a new documentary about the film and its reception which was helmed by one of its stars – Andre Gower. Through interviews with the cast, crew, screenwriters, directors, academics and original reviewers, it looks at how three decades on it still remains such a cult favorite.
Black and Dekker are reuniting this year with the pair having scripted The Predator which Black has directed. That opens in September.
