That Used Copy of SOCOM for the PSP May Cost You Another $20

SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 for the PSP, which will ship on a UMD, requires gamers to register on the PlayStation Network using an included voucher.

The problem is if you sell the game when you are done with it or buy a used copy from a place like  GameStop, the new owner will have to pay $20 to use  it on PSN.

This system by Sony is aimed at fighting piracy, which had hit the PSP developers hard. Plus it now gives Sony some skin in the used game market.

The downside to this, of course, it that it will greatly diminish the resale value of the game for the original owners.   The game lists for $39.99, so take a way $20, and your top value for a used copy is $19.99. Now no one is going to buy a used copy at $19.99, when they now they are going to have to pay another $20 to get to use the game on PSN. So the used market could be more  in the $10 range.
