T-Mobile Officially Unveils the myTouch 4G Slide

After a very brief tease, T-Mobile has already unveiled the myTouch 4G Slide. The Android 2.3 slider is as powerful as the HTC Sensation 4G with its 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon and 1080p video but has a very heavy camera emphasis, most of all in apps. The eight-megapixel sensor is back-illuminated and has a bright f2.2 aperture; the custom software also cuts out shutter lag and adds extras not always seen on phones, such as HDR (high dynamic range), sweep panoramas, and continuous shooting.

The phone runs on the same Sense 3.0 custom interface layer as the Sensation but with a slew of T-Mobile apps on top. An upgraded “genius” button versus the older Slide kicks in a complete Dragon Dictation-based voice command system that will make calls, send messages, and run searches without having to use the keyboard or touchscreen. Taking it a step further, the phone can also take voice dictation for Bobsled group messaging and go into an entirely hands-free mode.

As its name suggests, the phone carries full 21Mbps HSPA+ data and ships with a handful of apps to take advantage of it, including the harder-to-find Netflix app as well as T-Mobile TV live streaming.

Versions of the 4G Slide will by available in black and a khaki-like tan sometime within July for $200 on a contract.
