Sprint, VeriSign Messaging and Mobile Media, have announced an enhancement to Sprint Picture Mail that allows Sprint customers to send digital photos and videos straight from their phones to popular social media sites, including MySpace, Photobucket and YouTube.

The photo can then be uploaded directly to the customer’s MySpace, Photobucket or YouTube account from just about anywhere so family and friends can view it online anytime.

“The holidays are one of the most popular times for taking pictures and sharing them with loved ones,” said Len Barlik, vice president of wireless and wireline services for Sprint. “With the speed of the Now Network and this new enhancement to Picture Mail, Sprint customers can easily post their photos and video clips in an instant to some of their favorite sites like MySpace, Photobucket and YouTube so family and friends can share the moment, even if they can’t be home for the holidays.”

The Picture Mail enhancement uses the VeriSign Xoomerang platform to provide uploads from the user’s Sprint phone to a variety of social media sites. Designed to satisfy the growing number of mobile consumers who use online social networking and social media destinations, Xoomerang is a mobile media enablement solution that allows users to view and publish videos and pictures onto various online destinations.

“Consumers are increasingly using their mobile devices to stay connected with their friends while on the go, and we are excited to be working with Sprint to make mobile social networking as quick and easy as possible,” said Warren Faleiro, vice president, Multimedia Applications, VeriSign Messaging and Mobile Media. “As Sprint continues to innovate and enhance its mobile offerings, Xoomerang will play a key part by enabling Sprint subscribers to publish to their favorite sites in a click of a button.”

The Picture Mail feature for posting photos to MySpace, Photobucket, YouTube and other social media sites is available on more than 30 Sprint phones, including the popular Samsung Instinct, Rumor by LG, Motorazr2 by Motorola, Katana DLX by Sanyo. Sprint Picture Mail subscribers with compatible phones will automatically receive the enhancement the next time they upload or share a photo or video on their phone. Unlimited use of the service is currently included at no additional cost for all Sprint Picture Mail subscribers, including customers on Sprint’s $99.99 Simply Everything plan.

Customers interested in learning how to use Sprint Picture Mail can take advantage of Sprint’s Ready Now program, which helps customers understand everything the Now Network can do.   For additional customer convenience, customers have the flexibility to schedule appointments either in the store or online via Sprint’s store locator tool. Customers can visit www.sprint.com/readynow to schedule an appointment and find the closest participating store.
