Sony’s New PS3 TOS Warns Not to Over Due the 3D Game Play

Sony has updated its Terms of Service (TOS)  for the PlayStation 3, taking into account its new 3D capabilities. Well like the mothers in the 50’s that told you not to sit too close to that 19 inch B&W TV, Sony has  some warnings for those that might spend too much time playing Killzone 3 in 3D.

“Some people may experience discomfort (such as eye strain, eye fatigue or nausea) while watching 3D video images or playing stereoscopic 3D games on 3D televisions,” read Sony Online’s amended terms.

“SCEA recommends that all viewers take regular breaks while watching 3D video or playing stereoscopic 3D games. The length and frequency of necessary breaks may vary from person to person. Please take breaks that are long enough to allow any feelings of discomfort to subside. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.”

There’s also a warning that children under six should not  play  3D games  on the PlayStation 3 or check with your child’s doctor fisrt..   What about those of us who are 8 at heart?

Now I have watched 3D coverage of a football game that went over 3 hours but my playing of  3D games at one stitting hasn’t  been over an hour yet.   I have never had “feelings of discomfort” from any 3D prgramming.   Well, Ok, that isn’t really true.   I have had  discomfort when I had my #$%# handed to me in couple 3D games at Sony’s booth at CES. But 3D had nothing to do with 3D and I have the same feeling all the time with 2D games.
