Sony has announced three new families of premium SDHC memory cards. From the bottom up, there is the Essential, Experience and Expert Series. The top-rung Expert Series is Class 10, offering up to 22MBps in transfer speeds, and will be offered in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities. These are meant for users who shoot HD video or burst modes frequently.
The Class 4 Essential Series cards can be had in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB variations, and have a transfer speed of 4MBps. The Experience Series is offered in 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities and have a max data rate of up to 15MBps.
The Experience and Expert cards are bundled with File Rescue Version HD and x-Pict Story software. The former lets users bring back accidentally deleted files, including AVCHD (H.264) footage, while the latter allows them to create slideshows with music and visual effects.
The new cards arrive in January. Pricing hasn’t yet been announced.
